The chair is composed of 3 curved plywood shells whose edges and surfaces are hand finished to a smoothed perfection. All pieces are hand assembled: cushions are individually upholstered and replaceable; back cushions are interchangeable; shock mounts are resilient natural rubber. 40 leather and wood combinations are available. Flexing headrest and backrest The backrest and headrest are screwed together by a pair of aluminum supports and suspended on the seat via two connection points in the armrests. The armrests are screwed to shock mounts on the interior of the backrest shell, allowing the backrest and headrest to flex when the chair is in use. Durable 7-layer plywood frame/shell Shells are 7-ply cherry, natural cherry, walnut, or Santos Palisander, a richly grained veneer that looks like the Brazilian rosewood used on the original chair but is a sustainable tropical wood.
